Barley (known as Yava in both Vedic and classic Sanskrit) is mentioned many times in Rigveda and other Indian scriptures as one of the principal grains in ancient India. Barley is a member of the grass family and is a cereal. This grain is extremely versatile with its rich nut-like flavour and an appealing, chewy consistency.
